Hi'iakaikapoliopele: Visual Stories by Contemporary Native Hawaiian Artists
Sep 15 - Oct 24, 2009

This invitational exhibition will include accomplished upcoming artists of Hawaiian ancestry who have been asked to create new work with inspiration from the epic tale Ka Mo'olelo 0 Hi'iakaikapoliopele, by Ho'oulumahiehie.

The artist's work will include sources of inspiration from traditional hula, chants, characters, and places of the goddess, Pele, and her younger sister, Hi'iakaikapoliopele.

This exhibition will be traveling to the Hawai'i State Art Museum in Honolulu.
