Ms. Lauryn Hill, a native of South Orange, New Jersey, first came to attention with the multitalented group, the Fugees. Their real breakthrough came with the sophomore album, "The Score," which featured the hit song, "Killing Me Softly." That album still remains the worldwide top-selling rap album of all time.

Ms. Hill earned two Grammy awards (Best Rap Album and Best R&B Performance by a duo or group) in 1996 before releasing her self-written and self-produced iconic solo album, "The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill," which topped Billboard charts the moment it came out. She remains an influential artistic force.

Opening up the show is Eli-Mac, aka Ciara-Camile Roque Velasco, a Filipino-American singer known for her success on the third season of American Idol. Vocally she was most closely aligned with hip-hop among other genres and was even likened to her inspiration, Lauryn Hill.
