The Brothers Cazimero are consummate performers who have made their indelible imprint on the face of contemporary Hawaiian music. Their talent, longevity and sales success have placed them in a league of their own. The Brothers Cazimero showcase their Annual Lei Day Concert celebrating 30 years of consistently sold out May Day concerts. Delight in their special aloha celebration to the MACC.

Maui Spring Band Concert Series

The MACC’s goal in hosting this concert series is to provide a professional theater experience to school band directors, students and their families, featuring established musical programs in Maui’s middle schools and high schools. Enjoy an evening of quality entertainment with our most talented youth.

My Mama Monologues 2010

Maui Playwright Pat Masumoto is offering yet another incarnation of My Mama Monologues, which premiered last Mother’s Day and featured true “mama” stories from men, women and children worldwide. A powerful mix of hilarious, tender and healing, the stories were read in Hawai‘i, across the U.S. and Europe. This time, Masumoto’s cast of grandparents and grandchildren, celebrities and first-timers will present monologues with even more riveting dramatic shifts, including Pat telling stories about her 101-yr-old mom, who is on Twitter and YouTube as “GrandmaFlorence.” – Follow her!

Gaylen Hansen: Three Decades of Paintings
Schaefer International Gallery, 11 am – 5 pm
Opening Reception May 8, 5 pm
Organized by the Museum of Art at Washington State University, this exhibit brings together a retrospective of 30 years of this remarkable artist’s development. It traces the evolution of Hansen’s narrative paintings which encompass the landscape of the rural West. Colorful large scale compositions of horses, dogs, fish, grasshoppers and Hansen’s alter ego "the Kernal" lead viewers into his playful world of humor and humanity.

An Evening of the Classical Music of India with Ty Burhoe & Kala Ramnath

Join Tala Records’ founder and renowned tabla player, Ty Burhoe, presenting the 4th annual Evening of the Classical Music of India. This MACC concert series features Maestro Kala Ramnath, “The Singing Violin,” torch bearer of the Mewati Gharana Indian music tradition. She stands among the most outstanding and brilliant instrumental musicians of the classical genre. This rare, intimate and deeply inspired performance by one of India’s most celebrated musicians is sure to please.

A MACC Fundraiser

The second annual Maui Brewers Festival showcases the best in hand-crafted beers made in Hawai‘i and beyond. Join hosts Maui Brewing Company and Maui Arts & Cultural Center for a leisurely day of tasting beers from 30 breweries, appetizer sampling from island restaurants, live entertainment with local bands and prize giveaways.
Tickets: $45 / General admission package includes micro-brews and imports, island-style dishes and parking
$75 Happy Hour connoisseur package includes reserved parking, early entry at 2 pm, beer with the brewmasters and representatives, and a logo gift in addition to general admission.

Jim Gaffigan

Known for his unique brand of sarcastic humor, the hilarious Jim Gaffigan has amused fans nationwide with his “Comedy Presents” specials and recurring role on TBS’ “My Boys.” A laugh out loud stand-up who has appeared on “The Late Show with David Letterman” an unprecedented amount of times, Jim Gaffigan has also released six brilliant comedy CDs.
Jim is responsible for some of the funniest and most memorable moments in recent television shows (primetime, cable and the late-night circuit) and films. After his first appearance on Letterman, the host personally chose him to develop a sitcom for World Wide Pants. Eighteen months later, “Welcome to New York” made its debut to critical acclaim. Jim then co-starred with Ellen DeGeneres on her CBS sitcom, “The Ellen Show” and he has had recurring roles on FOX’s “That 70s Show” and NBC’s “Ed.” Many recognize Gaffigan from his numerous award-winning commercial campaigns, which include Sierra Mist, ESPN, Saturn and Rolling Rock.

In this original ballet, a handsome prince courts the leading ladies of five ballets – Le Corsaire, Giselle, Firebird, Butterfly Lovers and Tarzan – only to be discovered by all in the end, much to his dismay. Enjoy Maui Academy of Performing Arts’ (MAPA) annual dance revue.

Join Rex Navarrete as he invades Maui to celebrate the release of his latest DVD “Kosmik Organik.” Hot off the road from touring Los Angeles, New York, Vancouver and more cities, America’s Premier Filipino Comedian promises to offer you a much needed respite from the doom and gloom of the headlines with his own brand of humor that has made him a favorite of locals in Hawai‘i. The show will be emceed by O‘ahu’s own Shawn Felipe with additional performances by David Lee. Rex and his crew will leave you in stitches as he makes this special detour to Maui for a hilarious journey into the world and mind of a comic legend in the making. Performance may contain adult language.
