THIS IS A FREE LIVE @ THE MACC STREAMED EVENT
The Live @ the MACC
series of events has included many special virtual experiences streamed for free to our Maui community & throughout the world. Events have included Hawaiian, pop and classical music, dance, visual arts and more. We are pleased to present from the MACC's Castle Theater stage, a performance of Ruin
, by Maui's Adaptations Dance Theater
Incorporated in 2013, Adaptations Dance Theater (ADT) is Maui's nonprofit professional dance theater organization that creates groundbreaking work to spark new energy in the local dance community. By producing original works of art and creating professional performance opportunities on an annual basis, ADT addresses a specific need in the community to provide a permanent residence for professional dance artists to create, collaborate, and grow in their artistry without having to leave their island home to do so. ADT fosters a space where the general public can regularly experience this level of performance art, whether presented by artists trained locally or abroad.
ADT’s performance and community outreach programs seek to relay universal human experiences expressed through the visceral form of dance. ADT is proud to be a part of the vibrant arts community on Maui and strives to contribute to the creativity, education, and inspiration of future dancers and art advocates.
Artistic Director Hallie Hunt created her work RUIN
during Adaptations Dance Theater’s Bring it Home
choreographic residency in the summer of 2019. The work was created in response to climate change and human’s implicit role in the continued destruction of our planet and disregard for the younger generation that will be left with the consequences of our actions. The work explores animals dealing with the diminishment of their habitats, set against the wild whims, excess, and flailing chaos of human behavior.

The Live @ the MACC series is made possible by the generous support of the County of Maui and the Office of Economic Development. The series is designed to bring much needed opportunities for many of Hawai‘i's performing artists in a combination of live/virtual or safe/live-in-person events that meet local government and current CDC guidelines.
