A dance-theater work created by Julia Rhoads.

“Rink Life” from Lucky Plush Productions combines theater, physical comedy, full-throttle postmodern dance, and social commentary that nods to the visual aesthetics and social dynamics of 1970s roller rink culture.
The script-turned-libretto is both spoken and sung by the ensemble, and builds upon fragments of everyday aural input—passing conversations, intimate exchanges, distant whispers, and pop song ear-worms.
In 2016, Lucky Plush became the first and only dance company to receive the prestigious MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions, in recognition of their exceptional creativity and impact.
