The MACC presents Artist 2 Artist, a signature live series created by Henry Kapono that brings iconic musicians together for honest conversation, shared music, and spontaneous collaboration. Each evening begins with Henry welcoming a special guest artist for talk story and musical exchange—before inviting them to take the stage for an intimate solo set.
Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, Artist 2 Artist offers audiences a rare window into the creative lives of Hawai‘i’s most respected performers. These nights go beyond concerts—they’re personal, unscripted, and rooted in connection, mentorship, and mutual respect between artists who have helped shape Hawai‘i’s music legacy.
Artist 2 Artist: Henry Kapono with Keola Beamer & Moanalani Beamer
Kick off the new season of Artist 2 Artist with an extraordinary evening featuring revered slack key master Keola Beamer and Kumu Hula Moanalani Beamer, hosted by Henry Kapono. This special performance marks both the 10th anniversary of the Artist 2 Artist series and an opportunity to experience the artists in an intimate setting.
Henry and Keola share deep musical roots dating back to the 1970s, when Keola rose to prominence as part of the Beamer Brothers alongside the era-defining sound of C&K and fellow island contemporaries like Mr. Sun Cho Lee and Sweet Okole. Keola also penned the timeless anthem Honolulu City Lights, a song that continues to represent Hawai‘i around the world. Fresh off a sold-out tour together, Henry and Keola reunite for an evening of shared stories, collaborative moments, and heartfelt music—before Keola takes the stage for a special solo set, with Moanalani Beamer bringing the spirit of hula and cultural depth that has long been central to their artistry.
This night promises a powerful blend of legacy, friendship, and musical mastery—an experience rooted in tradition and elevated by decades of shared history. Expect meaningful conversation, beautiful slack key guitar, and moments that only happen when masters gather.
