Josh Tatofi, born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, is a celebrated Hawaiian singer, songwriter, and musician whose musical journey began within the vibrant cultural tapestry of his homeland. Coming from a musical family, with his father Tivaini Tatofi being a founding member of the renowned island band, The Electrifying Kapena, Josh was naturally immersed in the world of music from a young age. This familial influence nurtured his talents and instilled in him a deep appreciation for the traditional sounds and rhythms of Hawaiian music, setting the stage for his future career.
Tatofi’s music is a harmonious blend of traditional Hawaiian melodies and contemporary island reggae, creating a unique sound that resonates with a wide audience. His smooth, soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics have garnered him widespread acclaim, earning him the nickname The Polynesian Luther Vandross. The album was met with critical acclaim and established Tatofi as a prominent figure in the Hawaiian music scene.
Throughout his career, Josh Tatofi has received numerous accolades, highlighting his contribution to the preservation and innovation of Hawaiian music. His song Pua Kiele became a beloved hit, further solidifying his status as a leading artist in the genre. Tatofi’s dedication to his craft was recognized at the prestigious Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards, where he earned multiple awards, including Male Vocalist of the Year and Island Music Album of the Year. These honors reflect his impact on the industry and his role in perpetuating Hawaiian cultural traditions through music.
Maui native, Kawika Boro, has always had a love & passion for music. He started out with the ʻukulele as a teenager & eventually fell in love with playing the guitar, but singing had always been and continues to be at the forefront of his focus as a musician. Over the past several years, Kawika has released several singles but always had the dream to one day record an album. Though he has a pretty busy schedule year-round (he wears many hats at Kamehameha School Maui: choral director, football coach, & one of the Kumu for the Hawaiian Ensemble) he finally found time to get into the recording studio with Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award-winning producer, Imua Garza to make his dream come true. In December of 2024, that dream was realized when he released his debut album Ua Kō ʻIa Iho Nō which translates to: it has been fulfilled.
