Castle Theater
The MACC will be collecting donations for the Maui Food Bank during this event. We ask that our patrons bring needed items for those impacted by the wildfires. Donation bins will be located near the MACC's main entry gates.
Making their Maui debut, SOLE Defined will bring to the Castle Theater their fusion of music, movement, and imagination, providing a dynamic multifaceted experience that promotes an understanding and appreciation for African-American percussive dance forms rooted in the African Diaspora.
SOLE Defined is the Maryland/ Washington Metro area's leading arts organization specializing in percussive dance, tap dance, body percussion, and sand dance. The company’s dancers use the body as an instrument to create evening-length sensory-driven immersive performances comprising audience participation, integrated media, technology, instrumentation and storytelling.
Founders Ryan K. Johnson, Executive Artistic Director, and Quynn Johnson, Director of Arts Education, merge their expertise in education, performance, social justice, and community engagement to advance the legacy and techniques of African Diasporic percussive dance practices.
